The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has published a new Apple patent application describing an unusual audio system. In fact, Apple has patented speakers with a built-in cooling system.
The company believes that many audio systems can include many electronic components in a small form factor. For example, microphones, various sensors, processors, memory, etc. However, due to the nature of their purpose, audio systems, unlike computers, do not have cooling fans. After all, they do not need any extra noise.
That’s why Apple suggested using special speakers that will also cool the whole device.
The company can install such a system in the new compact speaker HomePod. However, so far it’s just a patent, and we have no proof that the invention will be implemented in the devices.
