NATO has accused Russia of violating the Treaty on Open Skies

The North Atlantic Alliance said Russia is violating the Treaty on Open Skies . The relevant document was published on Friday, May 22, on the agency’s website.

“For many years Russia has been imposing restrictions on flights inconsistent with the Treaty, including restrictions on flights over Kaliningrad and over the territory of Russia near its border with Georgia,” NATO said in a statement.

In addition, the alliance believes that Russia should lift the restrictions, and then the U.S. will reconsider its decision to withdraw from the Treaty on Open Skies.

Earlier, the EU countries commented on the U.S. refusal, as well as supported their concerns about Russia’s compliance with the Treaty.
