Nikola Motors has unveiled a concept pickup truck with a hybrid hydrogen-electric engine. It is capable of driving 100 km more than the Tesla Cybertruck on one charge, the developers say.
The concept car is called Badger – it is expected that its sales will begin in September 2020. The pickup truck is able to accelerate from 0 to 98 km/h in 2.9 seconds, and its torque is 1,329 Nm.
Such torque the car reaches due to the ultracapacitor system. Inside the Badger is a tank of 8 liters of liquid hydrogen, as well as a 300-kilowatt battery pack with an output of 160 kWh. This allows it to cover a distance of 965 km on one charge.
Among other things, a 15 kW power socket is integrated into the vehicle body to connect various work tools. The Badger has a pulling power of 3,629 kg.
Earlier Nikola Motors announced plans to release three new electric trucks with a hydrogen battery. One charge of their batteries will be enough to drive 1.6 thousand kilometers.
