Police have detained 12 protesters at the U.S. Embassy in Greece

Police in the Greek capital detained 12 anarchists for participation in the riots at the U.S. Embassy.

The protest action organized in connection with the death in Minneapolis of African American George Floyd was generally quiet. About three thousand people walked in the column from the walls of Parliament in the center of Athens to the American diplomatic mission.

A group of people stood out from the crowd near the embassy and began throwing Molotov cocktails and stones at the guards. The police responded with tear gas. The anarchists set fire to garbage cans in the streets and smashed two shop windows in the prestigious Kolonaki neighborhood.
