President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, head of the United States State Department Mike Pompeo, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting in Sochi.

The conversation lasted an hour and a half and took place in the fireplace Hall of the Bocharov Creek.
The director of the External intelligence service Sergey Naryshkin and the assistant of the President for International affairs Yuri Ushakov also took part in the negotiations.



Putin and Pompey discussed the possibility of contacts between Russian and US leaders at the G20 summit to be held in Japan in June this year, Ushakov said. Now Moscow expects concrete proposals from Washington.

“We are ready for any contact, we can” on our feet “to talk to President Trump, we can sit down for a more detailed discussion, it all depends on how our American partners will be tuned,” Putin’s aide said.

During the conversation, the Russian president and the US Secretary of State confirmed Moscow and Washington’s interest in restoring bilateral relations. According to Ushakov, Putin and Pompey held a “good substantive” conversation. In addition, at a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of state, the Russian leader stressed Moscow’s readiness to return to dialogue on all aspects of arms control.
The assistant of the president told that the parties discussed the international problem, much attention was paid to the situation in Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Venezuela. Discussing the Syrian issue, the Russian leader stressed the need to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Arab Republic.
