US and Russian Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet at the G20 summit in Japan. Trump himself told Fox News.
In an interview with the channel, the US leader said that during his presidency relations between Russia and the United States have become worse because of the “witch hunt” – the investigation into Moscow’s alleged interference in the 2016 election.
Trump wants to be friends with Russia. For this reason, he will meet with its leader Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the next G20 summit.
“We will have good relations with Russia. This is very important,” the US president said.
Yesterday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had nothing to say “concretely” about whether Trump and Putin would meet in Osaka on June 28-29. According to him, the schedule of Putin’s bilateral talks at the G20 summit has not yet been drawn up in full.
