Japanese American-born figure skater Chris Reed died at the age of 30. This is reported by Yahoo! Japan.
The athlete died in Detroit. The cause of death was a sudden heart attack. Skater sister Alison Reed, also a skater, confirmed his death in her Instagram account.
Reed was performing at an ice dance. He did not compete after the 2017/2018 season. His last partner was Japanese Kana Muramoto. Until 2015, he was paired with Kathy Reed’s sister.
Reed has ten wins in the Japanese championship. In 2010, he and his sister took 17th place in the Vancouver Games. Four years later, the pair showed the 21st result in Sochi. Already in pair with Muramoto Reed took 15th place at the Olympics in Pyeongchang.
In addition, Reed has twice won the World Team Championship as part of the Japanese national team.
