Fourth-generation F-15E Strike Eagle fighter will be the first American aircraft to receive the B61-12 nuclear bomb. The Sandia National Laboratories published a YouTube weapon test video.
The organization said in a statement posted on its website that the F-15E Strike Eagle is the first American aircraft to be certified for B61-12.
The F-15E Strike Eagle and B61-12 were jointly tested during Red Flag exercises in Nevada, in March.
The power of B61-12 does not exceed one-megaton in TNT equivalent. The bomb will be delivered to strategic bombers B-52 Stratofortress, B-2 Spirit, and advanced B-21 Raider, as well as fighters F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II.
